Today I created a project through donorschoose.org. I created this project because I firmly believe it will benefit my students. Flexible seating is a big deal in my classroom! My students need to be comfortable in their learning environment in order to succeed. Just as you and I like to be comfortable when we are working on lesson plans or curled up with a good book, our students tend to be more productive and retain more information when they are comfortable. To learn more about how I will use these resources for flexible seating please follow the link below to read about the project. (Even if you choose not to donate please check it out! It may give you some ideas for your classroom, or ideas to share with your favorite teacher.)
$1.00 is all it takes! Please join with me and support my classroom project. It would make a huge impact on my classroom and enhance the learning environment for my students.
Thank you for reading and supporting!

I hope that you all are having a blessed Easter weekend. Take some time to reflect on the meaning of this weekend and rejoice that our Redeemer lives! Because He lives we can live without fear. “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said…”(Matt. 28:6) “So do not fear, for I am with you;” (Is. 41:10)
(Almost) No prep word work station! Just print and go! We had a great time in 1st Grade this week with compound words! My students loved using these compound word puzzles in their Word Work station. They were so excited that they had a different puzzle for every day. They would even ask for them when it was recess! I had the students use a pencil for this activity, but the pages could easily be laminated and used with dry erase markers. Each page has 8 puzzles-perfect for the 10-15 minutes given for the Word Work station. (If students finished early they drew their own on the back using compound words they thought of, or they practiced their sight words.) Come check them out at my Teachers Pay Teachers store, Liv Love Teach, by clicking the Shop Button above, or by following the link below.
At my school we have been using these 10 gallon FRAKTA bags from IKEA to store our coats and our backpacks. They are very durable and work VERY well! They are made out of a material comparable to a tarp. I took a sharpie and put each child’s number on the bag so they always have the same one, and there is no question about which bag belongs to who. This has also cut down on students trying to get to their backpacks, or the back packs of others, for random reasons throughout the day. (Not to mention it reduces the risk of extra “friends” crawling into each others stuff…) I purchased the bags for $0.79 online and had to pay $10 shipping. A lot for shipping, but $30 for 30 bags was totally worth it when we don’t have cubbies and trashbags rips so easily. I have not had to replace any bags and I’ve had them since right after Christmas break. It doesn’t look like I’ll have to replace more than one, maybe two for next year. (Follow this link to the FRAKTA bags. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90161946/)
Also, on the shelf above the bags you’ll notice the boxes. These boxes are the FLYT Magazine File also available at IKEA. I have used these for 2 years in my classroom for mailboxes. I took a small binder clip and wrote the number of each student on one and attached them to the mailbox. They have been very durable and I have not had to replace any of them! The best part, they are only $1.99 at IKEA for a pack of 5! I only paid about $10 for 25 students to have a mailbox. This is much better than paying for the expensive plastic files from teacher stores. (I checked online and a pack of 5 plastic file boxes is over $10!) The FLYTE file would be great for many things in your classroom! Check them out here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50022354/
I was really excited that these worked out so well and really wanted to share with you!
I couldn’t let the snowy/rainy/yucky day (or this nasty cold I have) get me down so I decided to make something we could all enjoy! These sight word puzzles will be great for your primary classroom! Students will enjoy using these puzzles in a word work center or as an early finisher activity. There is a puzzle for each sight word excluding the words a and I. I hope you enjoy this product! It is good for Kindergarten students and for students in 1st or 2nd that may not have a grasp on their sight words yet. I can’t wait to get back to my classroom to let my students try these out as well!
